It's one of the best in the midwest and Chicago is an amazing city (I go to Northwestern and I'm down there all the time). So yeah, it's a good school.

2
It's a good school, but it's in a state with Great Schools. The University of Chicago, Northwestern, and the University of Illinois - Urbana/Champaigne are all great schools. So, after graduation, if you are looking for jobs in the Chicago area, you will be competing against students from these better schools. You'll need to do great things in college to stand out.

It looks like a fantastic school! I'd love to teach there. I'd call to inquire about an opening for your son's grade (4th?), a waiting list, and the time frame for the list. I'm betting that parents put their kid's names on a waiting list for a few years. Also ask to make an appointment to tour the school. Good luck!

Before you join JROTC you better brush up on your English. The only sure way to know for sure is to ask the guidance councilor.

2
Yeah, I'm a sophomore at Lane Tech right now and they have ROTC, but I have no clue what JROTC Raiders are. It's an option to choose either ROTC or PE. It's very rigorous and you have to wear those uniforms to school about once every two weeks or so. Other schools are Rickover, Phoenix, and that's about all I can think of. Talking to your school counselor would be best to find a school, but I would really encourage you to go to Lane Tech, it's a pretty good school.

3
Almost every high school in Chicago offers that program and Lane Tech is one of them.

UIC is considered to be a solid school and the best public school in the Chicago area. The average student has an ACT score of 24 and was in the top quarter of his/her high school class. Other decent schools in the area are University of Chicago, Northwestern, DePaul, and Loyola. A little further out in DeKalb is NIU.

Parking around the whole area really sucks and is high-priced so try to use the L. On the fun side, you would be less than a mile from Wrigley Field !!!

your options will be limited. Mostly food-service(maybe) bc a lack of completion doesnt look good on any job application. You can however enroll to take the G.E.D test, and that reflects a more positive light on any job application. As for proffessional jobs, you cant even be a janitor anymore unless you graduate or have a G.E.D. The test is difficult, but you should do it. IT will benifit you much in the long run!

No doubt about University of Illinois at Chicago, definitely that's a good place Caz my cousin graduated from this university and have got a good job and offers from others. They prefers on job training which is very beneficial.

3
It is a pretty respectable school for that, remember it is the University of Illinois. I had many friends who went their for engineering most notably for civil engineering. She now works in Washington D.C making about $95,000. Just wish the campus was a little nicer it looks kind of dungenee. Hope this helps.

4
Ok.. Lets take the middle part of the question. "Secure and well paying?". No education can guarantee you that. Back in the day, yes, it would have. Security in the job market is probably the biggest myth. There really is no security. Ask the people who are getting laid off. As the "dot.commers" that are looking for work. Your job is only as secure as the company you work for. I think the question you need to ask is "Is this a good school for MY TYPE of engineering?" Some are better at mechanical, some Chemical. You need look it over and see. Remember, the bigger the university, the less likely you are to get "hands on" attention. Meaning, getting time with the professor to ask those questions. Smaller univerisities usually lend themselves to more contact. Also, look at the faculty. Where did they come from? Where did they get their degrees? Cover all the bases

5
yes The UIC College of Engineering is recognized for its academic excellence with undergraduate and graduate programs in six academic departments: Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil and Materials Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. The College has 114 faculty, 1,624 undergraduate and 816 graduate students. Two of the College's faculty are members of the National Academy of Engineering, 40 are Fellows of their professional societies, 20 are National Science Foundation CAREER or Presidential Young Investigator Award winners, and more than 10 are editors of major research journals. The research programs at the UIC College of Engineering have been growing rapidly over the years and are conducted in 6 departments and 7 interdisciplinary centers. The UIC College of Engineering is the top ranked public Engineering College in Chicago and we are proud that during 2005-2006, the total research expenditure for the College of Engineering was about $20 million. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- University of Illinois at Chicago College of Engineering (M/C 159) 851 South Morgan Street Chicago, Illinois 60607 Phone - 312.996.2400 Contact the webmaster

Any accredited university will have a good school of engineering. The quality of the education in engineer depends far much more on the student than the program. You cannot wait to cram for quizzes as you can at Liberal Arts schools. You cannot study just for the test and forget it as you can at Liberal Arts schools. Each class builds a knowledge base to use on the next one. There are NO throwaway classes in the engineering curriculum. You NEED the English classes in order to properly present your engineering work, whether it is a written or spoken report. It does no good to design the perfect solution to a problem if you cannot describe it and present it clearly. Some of the biggest disasters have been because the engineers could not effectively present the problems (the I35 bridge disaster is one - the engineers KNEW and TOLD people but they did not get the message across) All of the schools you mention are excellent. One thing to know, after your first job, where you went to college is far less important than the quality of your engineering since graduation. Aerospace Engineer here....

Is the University of Illinois at chicago a good dentistry school?
Rank the schools in order for best dentistry school. Also rank in order of just which schools are the best University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) Northern Illinois University (NIU) Illinois State University (ISU) I have a GPA of 4.88 on a 5.00 scale Is that good enough to get into all of these schools?

NIU and ISU do not have dental schools. Only two schools in IL have dental schools, and they are UIC and SIUE.

2
I dont know anything about the rank of each school. One of my friends though interned at a dentist office in Lake Forest, IL and the head dentist went to UIC Dental. Since this dentist went to UIC and now works and lives in Lake Forest, IL, I'd definitely go to that school.

Do you mean University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign or University of Chicago One being a top public school, the other a top private. UIUC is a great school but if you're interested in dentistry University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is easily the best dental school in the nation.

2
It's okay...US News and World Report (pretty much the bible for college rankings) listed it as a third tier school ...although..."In 2006, UIC tied for 59th-75th place in the best academic universities in North America and tied for 102nd place in the world by an annual listing of the Top 500 World Universities, published by the Institute of Higher Education in Shanghai, China"

Don't listen to "A voice crying in the wilderness" He is confused. The school your talking about is somewhere in the middle. It's know in Chicago as a pretty good school. No one is going to be amazed by the fact that you went there but no one is going to say it's a bad school either. It's a huge school and most people in Chicago know about it. To comment on this statement. "i don't want to go to a school that is known to be a bad school in chicago."... no don't worry, that̢۪s not the case.

Where can i find Chicago, Illinois Public High School 10th grade curriculum?
I'm a real geek who wants to study and be prepared for the following sophmore year in high school. I really want to study all summer long. I was wondering what curriculum of studies would be used in the 10th grade? I just thirst for knowledge, and plus i want to get my GPA up from a 3.43 to 4.0 or higher. Well if it matters what school i go to b/c, Public High Schools aren't really up to date in books like the suburbs are (by the way it's Farragut Career Academy)... I would really like to know what kind of science is taken, literature/grammar, math, social study/history. Please only in the state of Illinois and in the Chicago Public School system. (of course!)

taixis are a good way to get around you can also take the bus and depending on how far you are going you can take the tour bus for free

3
The commuter train system ( METRA ) will be your boyfriend's way to get into Chicago. Great Lakes is on the Metra/Union Pacific North line . Probably has hourly runs, though on Saturday they are less frequent, and even less on Sunday. For schedule www.metrarail.com Once in downtown Chicago you can get free trolley car rides to various areas of the immediate Loop, Navy Pier, Museum Campus area.....Field Museum, Adler Planatarium, and Shedd Aquarium all of which are just north of Soldier Field and near north area as well as to Navy Pier. They run from the downtown Metra station ( Ogilvie Transportation Center ) where all the Metra commuter lines come to. Taxis are easy to get, just hail them down. Depending on the distance you go will determine your cost, it is about $15 for a taxi from the Metra station to Navy Pier. There is also the CTA, which consists of bus routes and the Elevated train system ( the El ) of various lines that can take you all around. Web www.transitchicago.com or can call 1.888.968.7282 Good luck, have fun in Chicago, you see alot of sailors on liberty from Great Lakes in Chicago.
